About the Role:
As Finance Manager, you will be a focal member of the Finance team, supporting the CFO and team with a range of responsibilities. We’re looking for someone that wants to lead and support a team, that wants to understand the business commercially, and also be able to solve escalations and mentor the team to continuously develop. Your responsibilities will include;
- Preparation of the monthly management accounts and information, really understanding the commercial big picture so we can present management information that the business can understand.
- Overseeing the close process and carrying out accounting tasks related to month end. True to start-up life, you’ll fairly frequently need to roll your sleeves up and help get to the bottom of things!
- Continuously developing the month end close and operational processes to build increasingly efficient and accurate processes with financial integrity. This will involve working closely with operational, technology and data teams in order to achieve this.
- Developing accounting processes as the business expands its operations and activities such as rebate schemes, invoice financing and other changes in product offerings.
- Ensure all transactions and accounts are reconciled on a timely basis, in particular work around balance sheet reconciliations.
- Responsibility for cash flow management (ensuring we have cash in the right place at the right time) as well as developing reporting to the CFO and CEO on this.
- Assisting the CFO with inputs for the budgets and forecasts as well as commercial analysis as and when required.
- Preparation of the VAT return and supporting with the preparation of year-end accounts.
- Assisting with payroll, pension administration as well as other HMRC returns and compliance.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Recently qualified (will consider late stage / exam qualified) CIMA/ ACCAs (or equivalent).
- First hand experience of closing month end with confidence to review existing methods and appraise them.
- Previous experience with VAT returns as well as other HMRC timelines for payroll.
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership. You understand that start-ups are unpredictable environments and are comfortable with a degree of chaos.
- Strong attention to detail, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Generally open minded and curious about the world.
- Team player and fit right into our culture of supporting and helping each other out.
